Arnold Palmer Signed Coast Guard Uniform Top with Patch
Arnold Palmer credits his three years of service in the U.S. Coast Guard for the man that he became. Palmer enlisted in 1950 during a trying time in his life. Tragedy had stuck. Bud Worsham, Arnold Palmer's roommate and teammate on the Wake Forest Golf Team, died in a single car crash and life would never be the same for Palmer. In 1951, Palmer would transfer to Cleveland, Ohio base as the yeoman for the commander of the 9th Coast Guard District, Rear Adm. Roy L. Raney where he was able to play golf in tournaments and on the weekend. This offering includes an Arnold Palmer signed Coast Guard uniform on the pocket similar to the famous shot of Palmer in uniform and on one knee while reading a putt . James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
