Arnold Palmer Signed 1960 Masters Second Round Ticket #218 w/ Original String
Arnie knew the significance of this ticket when the general of his own army signed a perfect exemplar of his name with precise positioning across the front of the prized 1960 Masters ducat. The King touched it and it turned into gold. The most discerning The late Arnold Palmer was clutch at the 1960 Masters Tournament, riding birdies on the final two holes to defeat Ken Venturi by a single stroke. This was Arnie's second of four Masters victories, and second of seven career Major championships. Remarkably The King left his black sharpie signature front and center on this 1960 Masters Tournament ticket that allowed a patron to witness the second tournament round. The second round was more significant this year than most, as leader Dow Finsterwald self-reported his first round rules violation of practice putting on the green following the conclusion of a hole. This costed him his two-stroke lead on the field of -5 and now tied with others at -3 chasing the new leader Arnold Palmer. Palmer famously birdied the final two holes Sunday to edge Ken Venturi by one and win his second Masters in three years.
The baby blue second round ticket low #218 carries its original string, exhibiting stains to the front and back sides and burn mark that are mentioned for accuracy and do not detract from the ability to praise this boldly signed example. Signed Masters tickets from Palmer's four victories are challenging to come by due to scarcity and an ever growing "Arnie's Army." James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and their auction letter of authenticity (ALOA) will come with this lot.
