Arnold Palmer Masters Final Winning Putt Original AP Wire Photo April 6, 1958
One of the biggest turning points of the Masters Tournament in the popularity of this treasured event was the arrival of Arnold Palmer. On Sunday, April 6th, 1958, Palmer claimed his very first Masters Tournament victory. Genuine emotion is shown on Palmer's face in this photo after his holing his final putt to secure the victory. Taking off his hat became common practice after big victories, most famously after the 1960 US Open. It looks like he is about to do just that here. The photo measures 8 1/8" x 8 7/8" and includes the photo caption on the reverse side.
