Arnold Palmer Ltd Ed 1954 USGA Amateur Commemorative Irons & Woods Set with Display - #0047
Commemorating Arnold Palmer's 1954 US Amateur title, this set of 11 irons and four persimmon woods were produced in limited quantity. A matching #0047 number is found on the soles of the clubs, along with the hosel of the irons. As detailed in the accompanying lot photos, these clubs are in very good condition and were likely never used. Each iron contains a gold-color filled Arnold Palmer facsimile signature, with "1954" towards the toe. Presented on a deluxe wood wall display with the gold-tone nameplate reading "The 1954 Limited Edition Commemorating Arnold Palmer's United States Golf Association Amateur Championship." The 1954 US Amateur was contested at The Country Club of Detroit and it is what Mr. Palmer considers the turning point of his career. No less an authority then Jack Nicklaus calls the United States Golf Association's Amateur Championship a "Major." Whether it is or not is open to debate. What is known is that the 1954 US Amateur had a fellow who was selling paint in Cleveland (Arnold Palmer) put his golf game to test over a week of gritty match play, and crowned him champion by virtue of a 1-up win in the 36 hole finals match. That weeks event was contested at The Country Club of Detroit, and it is what Mr. Palmer considers the turning point of his career. This appears to be missing a single club, with one holder spot empty.

AUCTION CLOSING RULES:
Place your bids now as this auction will close LOT BY LOT beginning at 10:00pm ET Sunday, March 6th. When placing your INITIAL bid in the auction, you must agree to the terms BEFORE confirming your bid. All items with multiple bids in the auction will be eligible for the extended bidding period. Each lot will have its OWN COUNTDOWN CLOCK set for a 30-minute interval, and the clock will extend 30-minutes from the time of the most recently placed bid for that lot. If no bids are placed on that lot during a 30-minute period, the lot will close. Place your bids now!
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots with only ONE or NO BIDS will automatically close at 10pm ET
4. All available lots will begin closing on a LOT BY LOT basis at 10pm ET
**Once extended bidding starts at 10pm ET, each lot will then begin closing with its own 30-minute countdown timer. Lots without a bid during extended bidding will close at 10:30pm ET. We recommend you place your maximum bid(s) prior to that time. Thank you**
