George Archer topped the field at the 1969 Masters Tournament, winning by one stroke over runner ups Billy Casper, Tom Weiskopf, and George Knudson. He was victorious 13 times on the PGA Tour, and 19 times on the PGA Champions Tour. In a career shortened by injuries, Venturi won 14 events on the PGA Tour including a major, the U.S. Open in 1964. Shortly before his death, Venturi was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2013. Ian Woosnam, the "Wee Welshman," secured 52 professional wins, notably the 1991 Masters. Renowned for precise ball-striking and strategic play, Woosnam's career showcased consistent performance and a Ryder Cup triumph. Tom Weiskopf's most successful decade was the 1970s, when he won 16 PGA Tour titles between 1968 and 1982. His career season was 1973, when he won seven tournaments around the world, including The Open Championship at Royal Troon, and he would finish that year ranked second in the world. This was to remain his only major championship victory, but he was a four-time runner-up at The Masters and also had a T2 finish at the 1976 U.S. Open. The 1992 US Open at Pebble Beach was a chance for Tom Kite to get the monkey off of his back. That monkey being an elusive Major championship victory as Kite was long considered one of the best golfers to never win a Major. He would finally do just that at Pebble Beach, finishing two strokes ahead of Jeff Sluman for his lone major championship.
