Antique Walter J Travis Hickory Shaft Wooden Putter
This is an antique wooden-headed golf putter featuring a mallet-style design. The club head is constructed from wood, likely persimmon or beech, and includes a rectangular lead weight insert at the back to enhance balance. A brass sole plate is attached to the bottom of the head using three flat-head screws. The head is joined to a hickory wood shaft with a tapered hosel. The grip consists of a dark brown leather wrap that is secured at the top and bottom with black cord whipping. Stamped into the crown of the wooden head are the characters W J TRAVIS in all capital letters. The surname is clearly impressed, while the initials W and J are more faintly stamped but remain legible. 34"
