Antique P. D. Pyle Race Brook Bulger Driver Hickory Shaft Golf Club
An antique hickory-shafted Bulger style driver golf club dating to the early 20th century, circa 1910s to 1920s. The club features a wooden head with a spliced neck joint secured by black thread whipping. The metal crown plate is engraved with the signature P. D. Pyle in script. The metal sole plate is stamped with three lines of text reading THE RACE BROOK, BULGER, and DRIVER, with a small solitary letter L at the base of the plate. These markings identify the club as a professional-line item associated with Peter D. Pyle, the club professional at Race Brook Country Club in Orange, Connecticut, during the early 1900s. The hitting face features a metal insert reinforced with four circular weighting dots. The club retains its original hickory wood shaft and is fitted with a period-appropriate black leather wrap grip.
