Antique J.W. Spear and Sons Indoor Golf Board Game with Cast Metal Hazards
This vintage board game is titled Indoor Golf: A New and Interesting Game. It was published by J.W. Spear and Sons in New York and produced at the company works in Bavaria. The lid indicates the game was designed in England by Jap. The game is housed in a lithographed cardboard box featuring a central illustration of golfers in early 20th-century attire. The set includes a two-panel folding game board with a tan playing surface decorated with red circular points, green connecting lines, and a red border with knot motifs. The board features a designated Tee and Finish. Accompanying the board are five hand-painted cast metal hazards including two green shrubbery pieces and three brown fence sections. Additional components include two circular markers in yellow and purple, two black composite or wooden sticks, and one notched cardboard measuring or scoring strip. The reverse of the box lid features a woodgrain pattern and a retailer sticker for Geo. O. Sawyer, Hartford, Connecticut.
