Antique Hickory Shaft Mashie Niblick Golf Club Smith's Model
This is an early 20th-century antique golf club, specifically a mashie niblick. The club features a hand-forged steel head with a distinctive gooseneck or offset hosel, a design element from the hickory era intended to help with ball alignment. The face of the club is decorated with a dash or line patterned score mark. The back of the head is stamped with several legible marks: Warranted, Hand Forged, Special, Cornhill, and Smith's Model. The lower edge is stamped Mashie Niblick. A central logo featuring a curved arch with interior characters is present but partially obscured by surface oxidation. The Cornhill stamp likely refers to a retailer located in the Cornhill district of London. The club is fitted with an original straight-grain hickory wood shaft. The grip is a period-appropriate wrapped leather with black whipping at the base. 36"
