One of the early, if not the earliest Major Championship course flown flag to be offered at auction. The 4th hole flag that flew at Aronimink Golf Club during the 1962 P.G.A. Championship when Gary Player captured his third Major. The consignor of this incredible memento worked the sand traps and greens as a 15-year-old and was allowed to take home the flag as a souvenir from his work at the Championship. The historical 4th hole marker measures 14"H by 21 1/2"W made out of nylon fabric which shows moderate use over the entire body of the flag. Along the left side of the flag are three brass grommets that retain the original cloth tassels and black moldings (also made by Par Aide) which secured flag to pin at the Championship. Also on the upper left hand side of the flag is the manufacturing information "PAR AIDE PROD.CO. ST. PAUL MINN". The yellow flag has blue stitched letters and numerals "PGA", "4", & "CHAMPIONSHIP". A tremendous surviving relic from the top international player the game of golf has known. The consignor will provide a signed copy of the letter appearing below to the winning bidder.
