A Set of Four Palmer Peerless Chattanooga Densi-tized Wood Golf Clubs
This set of four vintage wood golf clubs was produced by the Peerless Golf Co. in Chattanooga, Tennessee, as part of the Arnold Palmer Peerless line. The collection consists of a driver (#1), a 3-wood, a 4-wood, and a 5-wood. The club heads are constructed from densi-tized wood, likely persimmon or laminated maple, and feature brass sole plates secured with multiple screws. These plates are stamped with Palmer in script, Peerless tm in serif lettering, and CHATTANOOGA in sans-serif capital letters. A circular logo at the lead of the sole plate identifies the manufacturer proprietary Densi-tized process. The crowns of the #1, #3, and #4 woods feature a black finish, while the #5 wood crown displays a natural reddish-brown wood grain finish. All clubs include distinct face inserts. The set is fitted with mixed shafts, including at least one V2 Velocity Boron Graphite shaft and one True Temper Dynamic Gold steel shaft, both retaining their respective manufacturer labels. The clubs are finished with Neumann genuine calfskin leather wrap grips, which are embossed with the Neumann brand name and a bull head logo.
