A Pair of Early 1900's O'Hara Dial Co. Collegiate Golf Theme Lidded Steins
These steins were made by Ceramic Art Company for O’hara
Dial Company in the early 1900’s
The O’Hara, Dial Co was originally a watch dial maker. Due to a
business decline at the turn of the century they branched out
and purchased standard decorated stein bodies from the
Ceramic Arts Co/Lenox complete with the O'Hara Dial ""fleur-
de-lis"" base mark, and fitted pewter lids by Manning Bowman
& Co. Here we have two of those steins. The golfing figures on
the steins are said to be modeled after Horace Hutchinson.
Images of Horace Hutchinson that originally appeared in The
Badminton Library of Sports and Pastimes were believed to be
used as source material for these steins.
The hand painted pair complement each other nicely with their
green and brown colors and display together very well.
