A Collection of Five Autographed Vintage Sports Illustrated Golf Magazines Featuring Dow Finsterwald, Tony Jacklin, Lee Trevino, Lou Graham, and Hale Irwin
This lot consists of five vintage Sports Illustrated magazines, each hand-signed by a major champion featured on the cover. The collection focuses on U.S. Open themes and spans several decades of professional golf history.
1. June 8, 1959 Issue: Features a preview of the U.S. Open at Winged Foot. The cover includes inset photographs of Peter Thomson, Dow Finsterwald, and Art Wall. It is hand-signed in black fiber tip penby Dow Finsterwald across his inset photograph.
2. June 29, 1970 Issue: Titled Tony Jacklin Weathers A Stormy Open with an illustrated cover. It is hand-signed in blue fiber tip pen by Tony Jacklin. This item includes a PSA/DNA authentication sticker in the lower-right corner with certificate number M78596.
3. June 28, 1971 Issue: Titled The U.S. Open SuperMexStrikes Again featuring Lee Trevino. It is hand-signed in black sharpie by Lee Trevino.
4. June 30, 1975 Issue: Titled The Survivor: Lou Graham Wins a Killing Open featuring Lou Graham. It is hand-signed in blue sharpie by Lou Graham.
5. June 25, 1979 Issue: Titled Hail Hale, He Did It Again! Hale Irwin Wins His Second Open featuring Hale Irwin. It is hand-signed in black sharpie by Hale Irwin.
All five magazines signatures have been reviewed by James Spence Authentication (JSA) and their auction house letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
