2008 Ryder Cup at Valhalla Team USA Trophy from Past PGA President Allen Wronowski

Unreservedly stunning and endlessly intricate is this gold plated official 2008 Ryder Cup Trophy showcasing the master craftsman engravings of Phil Mickelson and the eleven other victorious United States player and Captain Ray Floyd facsimile signatures wrapped around the matching gold plated plinth band. Centered is the stacked 'Allen Wronowski - Valhalla GC - 2008 Ryder Cup' on this seldom seen prize only issued to players, captains and PGA Presidents. Trophy recipient Allen Wronowski was PGA of America President in 2011-2012 and contributed as the PGA Vice President during the 2008 Ryder Cup. Wronoswski would go on to serve the PGA of America as the 2015 PGA Cup captain. Difficult to look away from, this Ryder Cup exudes excellence in the classic trophy design that Samuel Ryder began in 1927. Precious metal makers marks are found upon examination on the bowl and at the bottom of the band. "The Ryder Cup" is also carefully added to the back side of the bowl in stylized deep engraving.

The 2008 Ryder Cup biennial international matches were quickly deemed a success by Team USA, who were victorious on home soil at Valhalla GC for the first time of the new millennium and since the 1999 comeback at Brookline. A comfortable handful of points would be the margin, 16 1/2 - 11 1/2 point victory over the European Team in 2008 in Louisville, Kentucky. The only 'track' without horse races in the area, the private and prestigious Valhalla Golf Club designed by Jack Nicklaus in 1986 now hosts to its fourth PGA Championship in 2024, to go along with two Senior PGA Championships and the 2008 Ryder Cup. The five points was the largest US margin of victory since 1981 - a wire-to-wire victory for the Patriots that led after each session of play. The US Team consisted of thoroughbreds from the home state in Kenny Perry from Franklin, Kentucky and the 26-year old captain's pick JB Holmes from the nearby Campbellsville. This example of the prestigious dual-handled trophy with a removable top, similar to Phil Mickelson's player version for instance, is 12" tall and the five-tiered wooden base has a diameter of 4". There is a slight lean to this trophy that we have not addressed, as depicted in lot photos. This centerpiece is deserving of inclusion in the finest golf collections of the world, be it private or that of institutional or public nature.
