2000 US Open '100th US Open' at Pebble Beach Canvas Flag
The year 2000 was the peak of Tiger Woods' dominance over the field, and the 100th U.S. Open was no exception, as Woods would win by a record 15 strokes. This became the most dominant performance by any golfer at a major championship.
In 2000 the Pebble Beach gift shop presented the choice to patrons, either purchase the screen printed flags or go home with the much heavier embroidered canvas flag for nearly twice as much. Due to the price difference that week, there were fewer of the canvas flags purchased. This example of the highly coveted flag is in excellent condition. Tiger's story is well known, and he became the youngest golfer to achieve the career Grand Slam (which only he and Jack Nicklaus can say they've achieved three times) and the fastest to reach 50 PGA Tour victories. He remains the active leader in PGA Tour wins (82) and major championships (15), and has been arguably the most talked about golfer to play after turning professional in 1996 because he posed the first real threat to catch Nicklaus' 18 major wins. Nineteen years later in 2019 the US Open was back at Pebble Beach, similar to Woods being back to the top of the golf world. The flag measures 14" X 18 3/4."
