Amateur Championship on Saturday, the impossible was getting old hat," LA Times Staff Writer Matt White quipped about then 18-year-old Tiger Woods' most recent performance. The score bested the prior course low mark by four strokes and the SGCA Amateur record by two. Saturday's highlight reel performance by the kid at Hacienda gave Woods an eight stroke advantage over the field going into the final round, leaving little doubt in who the winner's trophy would be presented to. Chip-ins and bouncing over curbs for birdies is just a snapshot. The teenager, who won by five, sitting next to a SCGA representative on the rock ledge overlooking Hacienda with the large trophy positioned in front just inches away.
