1979 Ryder Cup Victory Dinner Menu Signed by Both Teams
Signatures from both sides of the isle are found in close proximity to their name inside this Victory Dinner menu, including a rookie Severiano Ballesteros. A new era for the Ryder Cup had begun with the contest at Greenbrier. Players from continental Europe participated in the Ryder Cup in hopes of changing the extensive US dominance. With Seve on hand, the new Team Europe replaced Great Britain and Ireland as the official opposition to the United States. When all was said and done though, the United States dominated the competition by a score of 17 to 11 points. An impressive victory for the Americans, even with Nicklaus failing to make the team for the first time since becoming eligible in 1969.
