1968 Augusta National Golf Club Masters Player Gift - Aerial Map Laminated on Wood
The 1968 Masters Tournament contestant gift came with the Augusta National Golf Club tastefully mounted and depicted by George Cobb. Cobb was a design-consultant for Augusta National Golf Club and famously the architect of its Par 3 Course that opened on the grounds 9 years early in 1958. For display, this was mounted on a nicely finished brown wood plaque. Detail and color can be found throughout this piece, one of great desire by collectors for educational purposes in addition to viewing pleasure. 13 x 17 1/2"
Ben and Jo Byrd Memorial Scholarship Fund
Please note that all funds generated from the sale of these and other memorabilia will benefit the Ben and Jo Byrd Memorial Scholarship Fund. Former Belmont Men’s Basketball coach Rick Byrd and his wife, Cheryl, established this scholarship fund to honor his parents, Ben and Jo Byrd, who both passed away in 2017. Ben was a sports editor and columnist for The Knoxville Journal and was one of the first mainstream journalists to equally cover men’s and women’s college basketball. The Masters memorabilia belonged to Ben who covered The Masters for the Knoxville Journal from the late 1950’s to the early 1990's
