1965 Masters Tournament Thursday Pairing Sheet and Augusta National Spectator Map
This original double-sided ephemera document was produced for the first round of the 1965 Masters Tournament, held at Augusta National Golf Club. One side is titled Pairings and Starting Time and is dated Thursday, April 8, 1965. The sheet provides an exhaustive list of the field, including starting times and assigned caddie numbers. Notable participants listed include Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, and Gene Sarazen. The sheet also identifies honorary starters Jock Hutchison and Fred McLeod, as well as honorary non-competing invitees such as tournament co-founder Robert T. Jones, Jr. (Bobby Jones).
The reverse side features a color-illustrated spectator map titled AUGUSTA NATIONAL GOLF CLUB. This map depicts the full course layout, identifying hole numbers, individual hole names (e.g., Pink Plum, Azalea, Firethorn), and water hazards. It includes a key for amenities such as concession stands, scoreboards, and parking lots. A Score Card - Maximum Distances table is printed in the top right corner, detailing par and yardage for all 18 holes, totaling a par 72 and 6,980 yards. The top of the map side includes a Special Notice section regarding the operation of field scoreboards.
