1959 U.S. Open Championship Pairing Sheet Winged Foot GC - Nicklaus Amateur
This lot features a framed pairing sheet from the 1959 US Open Championship which featured that year's US Amateur winner Jack Nicklaus. Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York played host that week. Notable entries include amateur Jack Nicklaus (entry 102), tournament winner Billy Casper (entry 59), Arnold Palmer (entry 115), Gary Player (entry 114), Sam Snead (entry 113), and Ben Hogan (entry 38). 13 3/4" X 16 1/4"
The header displays the tournament title and dates in black and red ink. The original 25-cent price point is printed in the upper right corner. A Special Request section is located at the bottom center, providing instructions for spectator etiquette, course conduct, and camera restrictions. The Winged Foot Golf Club insignia is printed at the bottom of the page. The document is professionally presented in a deep red mat and a modern black frame. The reverse is sealed with brown paper and fitted with a wire for hanging.
The paper ephemera displays light, even toning consistent with age. The printed text remains clear and legible. The frame and matting are in good condition with minor surface wear. The hanging wire is intact and functional. The item has not been examined out of the frame.
