1954 The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale Thursday Ticket #1791
A Thursday ticket from the 1954 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale is offered here in this lot. This was the first of five Open victories for Peter Thomson, who ruled the tournament in the late 1950s. Thomson won his first Claret Jug by one stroke over runners-up Bobby Locke, Dai Rees, and Syd Scott. Amazingly, from 1952-1957 Thomson would either win or finish as runner-up in the Open Championship, and 1954 was just the start of his winning spree. The ticket is in good condition, with some minimal wear as depicted in the accompanying lot photos.
