1953 Masters Tournament Sunday Final Rd Ticket #10184 w/Original String - Ben Hogan Winner

Presented in this lot is the Final Round admission ticket for Ben Hogan's record shattering 1953 Masters Tournament. Examining the historical side of the evaluation for the contest represented by this offered 1953 Masters Sunday ducat #10184 is necessary. Bantam Ben's four round total 274 (-14) was a whole five strokes less the previous Masters low set by Claude Harmon in 1948, and stood until Jack Nicklaus' 1965 score of 271. The performance was worthy of the naming of a bridge on Amen corner five years later, still standing today. The 1953 Masters ticket carries the highest value among Masters ticket collectors after the early years 1934-40 ducats. This valuation is due at least in part to Ben Hogan's great run in the 1953 Majors. That year he would become the first player to win three professional Majors in a year following his Masters victory with triumphs in the U.S. Open at Oakmont and the British Open at Carnoustie. Hogan remains the only golfer to win those three tournaments in a single calendar year. Despite very little wear, this admission voucher was there to witness the legendary swing of Hogan. Ben won his 2nd Masters title in 1953, finishing 5 shots ahead of Porky Oliver. This opportunity will likely serve as one of the only a few to add this historic, originally $7.50 ticket, to your collection. The original string is still intact on this example with jet black print and only negligible condition detractors on the front presentation side, merely spotting on the verso to nitpick. With that said you still have yourself a significant moment in Ben Hogan's career and a Masters relic.
