1951 Walker Cup at Birkdale Official Program - May 11th & 12th
The 1951 Walker Cup hosted by Royal Birkdale continued the dominance of the United States in the amateur international matches. Willie Turnesa was the captain and helped the United States claim a 6-3 victory over Great Britain and Ireland. World-class amateurs on the United States side included Charlie Coe, Frank Stranahan and William C Campbell. Detailed in the pages of this program are different sections of pertinent tournament patron information. These include "Notes for Spectators," past tournament results, each contestant on either side, and a hole by hole summary and concludes with a Penfold golf balls time-period advertisement on the back cover. This program made the trip across the pond and is remains in good condition with royal blue cover print, with expected overall wear as detailed in the accompanying lot photos.
