1950 PGA Championship at Scioto CC Contestant Badge - Chandler Harper Winner
The 1950 PGA Championship presented its players a contestants identifying stick clasp pin metal badge which was used to designate players in the field. One of only 128 crafted for players in the event, this example retains its royal blue and gold enamel luster from 1950. Chandler Harper's seven win PGA career was highlighted when he won the 1950 PGA Championship defeating Henry William, Jr. 4 and 3 in the final. In that match Harper won the first hole and never lost the lead over the 33 holes the match lasted. He reached the final the hard way too, beating two Hall of Famers in Jimmy Demaret, 2 and 1, in the semifinal and Lloyd Mangrum, 1 up, in the quarterfinal. This example is presented in good condition. A letter of from PGA Historian Emeritus Bob Denney will accompany this lot.
