1947 Masters Tournament Fourth Rd Sunday Ticket #1455 with Original String
This lot presents a very desired Championship Sunday ticket from the 1947 Masters, complete with its original string in place. Patrons witnessed the charismatic Texan Jimmy Demaret win his second of three Masters Tournaments by two strokes over challengers Byron Nelson and Frank Stranahan. Adding to Demaret's prestige, he was the first golfer to score four sub-par rounds in the same Masters tournament.
Boasting sharp edges throughout and dark black print, what was once a $5.00 ticket is now exponentially higher in value. The collecting of the ever challenging Masters tickets from the 1930's and 40's is red hot, with a premium placed on Sunday and Series badge.This ticket number 1455 from the 11th Masters tournament presents in good condition, with some paper loss and adhesive residue on its top. Noted for accuracy purposes only there is slight discoloration in a triangle pattern found on the front side of the ticket. Finding Masters tickets which are full and with their original string, like this '47 Sunday, is not an easy task, take it from someone who looks 300 days a year to find one and many years comes up empty.
