1947 Masters Red/Gold Leather Tournament Player Gift - Presented to Lloyd Mangrum

Gifted to two-time Purple Heart recipient and celebrated golfer Lloyd Mangrum for the 1947 Masters Tournament, Augusta National Golf Club spared no expenses when producing their player gift of a Red/Gold Leather bound book. Found between the covers is the 1947 Masters Player Guest List printed in Masters green, including of course champion Jimmy Demaret. The '1947 Masters - 24 Lowest Scores' and 'The Complete Record' with winning aggregate scores from 1934 to 1947 are included in the book as well, for tournament education. The Texan would win his first of three titles, with a four round score of 291 and seven-under par. Nearly 75 years later, this tome's cover is in good condition with stroking gold-tone ornate design encompassing the iconic Augusta National Golf Club emblem front and center. Presented to the previous year's (1946) US Open Champion, contestant 'Lloyd Mangrum' is scripted on the front cover to show ownership. Mangrum was dominant on the PGA Tour for nearly two decades, winning 36 tournaments over 17 years. Chosen for the United States Ryder Cup team four consecutive times from 1947 to 1953, Mangrum helped the team win the international matches each time. There are pictures that have been omitted from the book since its original issuance, please refer to photos of this lot.
