1949 Ryder Cup contestant Bob Hamilton from Evansville, Indiana won the 1944 PGA Championship in match play over thoroughbred Byron Nelson. Held in Spokane, WA, it was the only major tournament played in the US that year and the first to be played in the Pacific Northwest. In the 1944 PGA 36 hole Championship round, PGA top player of the day, Byron Nelson performed admirably posting a score of 140, 4-under-par. He flat out got beat that day with Bob Hamilton posting a 5-under-par total to claim the '44 PGA Championship. This program contestant badge is on its original backing and presents in vry good condition, with slight aging on the verso noted for accuracy. Has original card backing. A letter of from PGA Historian Emeritus Bob Denney will accompany this lot. 1 1/4"
