1937 Swinging into Golf by Ernest Jones & Innis Brown First Edition Book
This is a first edition of the instructional golf manual Swinging into Golf, co-authored by noted professional Ernest Jones and golf commentator Innis Brown. Published in 1937 by Whittlesey House, a division of the McGraw-Hill Book Company, Inc., the volume is an octavo (8vo) bound in the publisher's cloth and retained in its original pictorial dust jacket. The dust jacket features a green and black design with a central circular portrait of Ernest Jones and various illustrations depicting the mechanics of the golf swing. The work is divided into eight chapters focused on the "swing technique," covering fundamentals such as the grip, stance, timing, and rhythm. The text includes an anecdote regarding Bobby Jones and his early instruction under Stewart Maiden. The rear panel of the dust jacket provides testimonials from prominent figures including sports writer Grantland Rice and professional golfers Virginia Van Wie, Charlotte Glutting, and Elizabeth Ryan. The title page identifies Jones as the professional at the Women's National Golf and Tennis Club in Glenhead, New York, and formerly of the Chislehurst Golf Club in Kent, England.
