1937 Amateur Championship at Alderwood Series Ticket
The 1937 USGA Amateur Championship, held at Alderwood C.C. in Portland, Oregon, saw John "Johnny" Goodman defeat Raymond Billows by 2 holes in the 36-hole final.
Eight years earlier in the 1929 Amateur at Pebble Beach. Goodman would achieve one of the greatest upsets in the history of golf defeating Bobby Jones in the first round of match play.
Goodman finally broke through at Alderwood in this his first and only US Amateur championship after 8 tries. It was a nice bookend to his 1933 USGA Open championship win and historically he is one of only 13 players to win both the US Amateur and US Open.
This 1 7/8 x 4” ticket is in amazing condition and retains its original pin. It has a pin because the ticket itself is actually made of a type of plastic.
This is the only true series 1937 US Amateur ticket we have ever had at auction and it is extremely uncommon and scarce.
