1936 PGA Championship at Pinehurst CC Program - Denny Shute Winner
The famed Pinehurst No. 2 course in North Carolina was laid out in 1897- 1898 and held its first tournament, The United North and South Amateur Championship in 1901. It wasn't until 1936 that the resort hosted a major tournament. The 1936 PGA Championship represents the first of four major tournaments at Pinehurst, with plans for hosting the 2024 US Open. American golfer Denny Schute won his first of consecutive PGA Championships, besting long-hitting Jimmy Thomson 3 & 2. Schute had experienced major success three years prior, hoisting the Claret Jug at St Andrews and the 1933 Open Championship.
This program boasts vibrant color, with an illustration of a post swing time period golfer in front of the traditional Pinehurst CC clubhouse. It is in fair condition, with overall cover wear and a loose binding. As seen in pictures, there are detached pages and an ink notation inside the 'P' on the cover. A letter of from PGA Historian Bob Denney will accompany this lot.

All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval). Place your bids now!
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
