1935 Ryder Cup at Ridgewood CC F.R. Tripler & Co. Clothing Samples for PGA's Jacobus
In preparation for the 1935 Ryder Cup PGA of America President George Jacobus was given the duty of selecting the US Team clothing. The first American-born president of the PGA went to none other than New York, New York "Outfitters for Gentlemen" clothier F.R. Tripler & Co. This lot contains the actual sample swatches of the US Team's clothing in 1935. From Madison Ave. and 46th Street, these four cloth swatches were delivered to Jacobus to ensure they were up to the high standard of the team. Dressed well, Captain Walter Hagen's team played well and defended home soil with a 9-3 US Team victory at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey.
