This close, full-body shot of Jones is brilliantly captured by an on-course professional lensman crouched down at green level at the very first Masters Tournament - stamped on the verso 'MAR 1934'!
A point of emphasis, while holding his weapon of choice putter Calamity Jane (famous in its own right), Bobby Jones' eyes are depicted tracking his golf ball heading toward the camera fractions of a second prior to disappearing in the hole. The dream had come to life, and while Jones himself was not in favor of calling the tournament 'The Masters' in 1934 - the media ran with it and PSA properly titled this crystal clear photo '1st Masters' on its top label. Its verso includes the pencil notation of its subject Bobby Jones along with the aforementioned welcomed and highly significant timestamp. PSA/DNA has encapsulated this photo for preservation and presentation PSA #84874803 and deemed it the highly valued first generation 'Type I' News Service photo. Photo measures 4 3/4" x 7 1/4"
