1933 Augusta National GC "Bobby Jones Golf Course" Opening Day Cover - Red Ink
This 1933 Augusta National GC "Bobby Jones Golf Course" Opening Day is one of the more difficult cachets with it's 'Red Ink,' different that the blue with a red outline version. Used to help promote membership at Augusta National, also known at that time as Robert T. Jones course (see photo), this unique FDC contains the original Augusta, GA postmark from January 13, 1933 (the official opening day of the course) in black ink. The FDC was mailed by two 1 1/2 stamps to a Willard Baugh in Mason City, Iowa. Writing on the front declares the following: Augusta National Golf Club Robert T. (Bobby) Jones Course Opening Jan. 13, 1933 Augusta, Ga.
