1931 USGA 35th U.S. Amateur Golf Championship Historical Ephemera Display - Framed
This is a framed collection of original printed documents and ephemera from the 35th U.S. Amateur Golf Championship, which took place at The Beverly Country Club in Chicago, Illinois, from August 31 to September 5, 1931. The display features four distinct document pages professionally mounted within a single frame. The upper documents consist of the official title page for the competition featuring the United States Golf Association (USGA) seal and a page listing the Championship Committee. The committee list includes Prescott S. Bush as Vice-Chairman, a notable figure in USGA history and father of U.S. President George H.W. Bush. The lower documents include a detailed list of twenty sectional elimination districts and courses used for qualifying rounds across the United States, as well as the formal tournament schedule, match play formats, and prize descriptions for gold, silver, and bronze medals. A gold-toned identification plaque is set into the center of the matting and reads 35TH U.S. AMATEUR GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP BEVERLY COUNTRY CLUB CIRCA 1931. The documents are housed in a dark wood frame with a mahogany-style finish and set against a hunter green mat with three custom-cut windows. The 1931 championship is of particular historical note as it marked the second U.S. Amateur title for Francis Ouimet.
