1930 US Open at Interlachen CC Club Member Badge - Bobby Jones Grand Slam!
Offered in this lot we have a 1930 Interlachen Country Club Members badge of admission from the third leg of the Grand Slam of Majors won by Bobby Jones. George Trevor sportswriter for the New York Sun would phrase Jones' four Major triumphs in 1930 as such, "stormed the impregnable quadrilateral of golf." This is one of the tougher United States Open badges to locate in any condition, and like Jones' in 1930 this one excels. This badge, to an event which captivated the minds of most 1930's Americans whether they were golf fans or not, remains in a solid excellent plus condition (for accuracy slight tarnishing of medal on reverse side, I'm nitpicking). This week long admittance badge of the United States Golf Association provided its bearer Mrs. W. Stephens the opportunity view one of the grandest moments in the Golden Age of Sport, Bobby Jones's accomplishment as the only player to win the pre-Masters era Grand Slam. Please see photos with this lot which will give the bidder a better understanding of the high grade of condition maintained on this seldom seen badge. The gold standard for golf badges of admission and Bobby Jones collections.
Please note: This auction will end at 5:00pm EST on Sunday, April 8th, with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow.
