1930 Silvertown Co. Hole in One Trophy
This hallmarked sterling trophy was awarded in 1930 for
a hole in one at the Flempton Golf Club. It was given
with the compliments of the Silvertown Company to Mr.
J. F. Ryan Ambler for his hole in one on the 160 yard 5th
hole at Flempton on October 15 1930.
The trophy features three golf clubs surrounding the
presumed Silver King mesh ball that was holed in one.
The Silver King was The Silvertown golf ball
manufacturing company’s legendary premium golf ball
and was designed by Albert E. Penfold, and featured apatented mesh or dimple cover and tightly wound rubber
inside .
The Flempton Golf Club in Suffolk was founded in 1895
and J H Taylor is credited for the 9 hole design/revision
of the course in 1906.
The golf club is still active today and the course is
considered a Taylor hidden gem.
This highly collectible trophy is 6 ½” tall and sits on a 4
inch diameter base.
