1930 Bobby Jones US Open Qualifying at Wallasey Original Wire Photo - June
'Bobby Jones practicing for the Open and Playing on the Wallasey course today' Jones was completing his second qualifying round, at Hoylake the day prior for the first round, with 112 players advancing after the pair. This clear follow-through photo is stamped and dated Jun 13, 1930. Just a week later on June 20th, Jones captured his second leg of his Grand Slam at Royal Liverpool. As the Wallasey Golf Club recounted earlier this year on their social media account, it was during this trip that Jones' portrait was painted - commissioned by Wallasey ex-captain Ernest Royden. Jones liked the artist's work so much he would have that same artist commission a similar portrait of himself that still hangs at Augusta National Golf Club. 6 1/2" x 8 1/2"
