1929 PGA Championship at Hillcrest CC Contestant Badge - Leo Diegel Winner

Held at Hillcrest CC in Los Angeles, Leo Diegel defeated Johnny Farrell 6 and 4 to win his second major title. Just as the year prior Diegel had to conquer giants in Walter Hagen and Gene Sarazen on his road to the match play finals. Featured here is the difficult emerald green contestant badge in good condition, with the only wear or aging on the reverse on either side of the original pin that is still intact. It also represents the first major to be played in not only California, but the whole western side of the United States. The front enamel is in very good condition and allows maximum presentation value for this tough PGA contestant badge. A letter of from PGA Historian Bob Denney will accompany this lot.
