1926 US Open at Scioto Committee Member Badge with Ribbon - Bobby Jones Wins!

This seldom seen 1926 US Open badge served as a badge of passage to all three rounds on July 8, 9 and 10 for the elite committee members that assisted Bobby Jones at Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio during one of his greatest career moments. Unlike other examples of the early U.S. Open badge, it is able to be traced to an individual, that being committee member No. 206 'Dr. Evan C. Brock'. As significant as this badge is for scarcity it is of equal appeal to collectors is the champion in '26 was Bobby Jones. In the 1926 U.S. Open contested at Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio, Jones made a spectacular two-putt birdie on the 72nd hole to win by one stroke over Joe Turnesa claiming his second U.S. Open Championship (1923). With the victory, and already having claimed the British Open title earlier in the summer, Jones became the first golfer to hold both titles simultaneously. It is complete with its original clasping pin on the reverse of the inked nameplate above its ribbon that is still operational today. The reverse contains the original button backing paper of the manufacturer The Whitehead & Hoag Co. locally out of Newark, N.J. This 1926 badge provides all the requisites of the ideal golf collectible, and would be a worthy inclusion in just about any advanced collection. There is crazing and overall wear on the button and ribbon, consistent with usage and age. Pictures included in this listing act as an additional condition report. 1 1/2" diameter, ribbon including name measures 3 5/8"
