1926 US Open Qualifying Rounds Contestant Badge

Offered in this lot is the seldom seen 1926 U.S. Open qualifying contestant badge. This 'USGA' pin served as a badge of passage to the course for the elite few golfers who had full access to one of Bobby Jones greatest career moments - winning the 1926 U.S. Open at Scioto. This badge is exquisite, scarce, and historic in every manner.

The 1926 U.S. Open, contested at Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio, saw Jones make a spectacular two-putt birdie on the 72nd hole to win by one stroke over Joe Turnesa. This was Bobby’s second U.S. Open Championship (1923). With the victory, and already having claimed the British Open title earlier in the summer, Jones became the first golfer to hold both titles simultaneously. The front of this badge displays excellently, as depicted in the photos. This 1926 contestant qualifying rounds badge provides all the requisites of the ideal golf collectible, and would be a worthy inclusion in just about any advanced collection.
