1926 US Amateur Championship at Baltusrol GC Saturday Final Rd Full Ticket - Great Condition

"The monarch of golf was toppled from his amateur throne...by flaxen-haired George Von Elm...in one of the most stunning upsets of links history," an Associated Press reporter exclaimed after the 1926 US Amateur at the historic Baltusrol Golf Club concluded. It would be the three of three duels between the man referred to simply as Bobby and George Von Elm, the first tournament winner from west of the Mississippi river. The distinguishable ticket affixed on tournament patron ensembles remains a staple in early USGA ducat creativity, as burst of sun rays composted of peach coloring radiate from the central green circle to all corners and sides of the hour glass shaped ephemera. Of course, 1926 marked the second half of the roaring twenty's and golf's golden age of amateur competition. One of merely a few remaining examples of this ephemera separates itself from the others, this piece of ephemera is likely the finest, as it proudly exhibits an unused perforation. As significant as this ducat is for scarcity and condition of equal appeal to collectors is the Championship match at the 1926 U.S.G.A. Amateur was Bobby Jones and George Von Elm. Von Elm would seek revenge to the golfing luminary, two years after a loss to Bobby Jones in the final of the 1924 US Amateur. Jones captured a pair of major championships that year, in the Open Championship and US Open. A sought after spot for local and national advertisements would continue as the verso of major championship golfing tickets, as shown on this specimen. "US Royal" golf balls would start their meaningful pitch with jet black wording of "Putting" and go on to say that the game's element would win the 1926 US Amateur (this championship) and that their US Royal balls putt truer to any other ball due to their center of gravity that cannot shift. Hunters of this ticket likely place high importance on USGA majors, the ticket category, and or Bobby Jones's story. 3 1/2" x 2 1/2".
