1920 Thanet Ladies Golf Club - Clubhouse Champions Wood Display
Established in 1896 Thanet Golf Club, or Hengrove Golf Club, used the 200 acre land for Ramset Hunter of Royal & St George to lay out the 5,889 yard 18 hole course according to Golf's Missing Links website operated in the United Kingdom. One of the earliest professionals there was Willie Smith from Carnoustie, who years later would win the 1899 US Open. Here is a massive, sturdy, 41" x 50" x 5" clubhouse champions painted wood display that lists champions from three different flights or tournaments between 1920 and 1938. These include lists of the Captains, Honorary Secretaries and Challenge Cup. These are in gold paint, matching the headlining 'THANET LADIES' GOLF CLUB.' This has been preserved to good condition. Please examine the accompanying lot photos for a detailed condition report.
