1919 Ekwanok Country Club Isham Cup Sterling & Glass Humidor
The Isham Cup was originally called the Presidents Cup and was first played for in 1900, the year Ekwanok was opened. Edward Isham , Club president in 1900, was one of the original three founders of the Club. The President’s Cup was renamed the Isham Cup in 1911 at the time of Mr. isham’s death.
This heavy cut glass 5 ½ x 4 ½ “ humidor is topped with a sterling lid engraved as follows: “ Isham Cup Tournament, 1919, 3-16, Runner Up, George E. Morse.” The lid is also embellished with the Ekwanok Country Club Seal. The Isham Cup was won by many famous golfers including, in its first 10 years, Charles B. Macdonald, Walter Travis and Jerome Travers.
Max Marston of Baltusrol won the 1919 tournament,
which was five years after Francis Ouimet captured the
US Amateur Championship at Ekwanok.
