1914 Columbia CC Annual Golf Tournament Sterling Silver Overlay Flask
This stunning glass flask is enveloped in a beautiful grapevine design with the highest grade (999/1000) sterling silver overlay. Engraved on a shield on the front of the flask as follows. “Columbia Country Club, Annual Golf Tournament, October 1914, Runner Up Fourth Sixteen, Won by.” Markings on the bottom rim include “M 115-2 999 1000.” The 5 ½ x 3 ¼ “flask has a nice tight screw on/off notched and attached cap in good working order and has survived these 120 years in overall great condition.
The invitation only Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase Maryland has a rich 120 year history, and has hosted three national golf championships including the 1921 US Open won Jim Barnes. The golf course is widely recognized as a Walter Travis design. Hard to look away from the photos in this lot, make it hard to look away from in your own high-grade golf display. This finely crafted flask is a rare survivor of the club’s early years and is highly collectible.
