1912 Minikahda Sterling Trophy
"Fifteen years before Bobby Jones would win the 1927 USGA Amateur Championship at Minikahda, we believe this impressive two handled sterling trophy was awarded in their 1912 season ending club championship Presidents Cup tournament (per an article in the sep. 15 1912 Minneapolis Journal). The participant who won it was one of the semifinalists, Edwin a Fish, and it was specifically given to him in recognition for being “The Best Golfer under 30 years of age” in the tournament.
The trophy was presented by fellow Minikahda member H. G. Earle.
Measuring 10 ½ x 7 ½ at the handles , the sterling trophy weighs a significant 13.7 ounces with no weighting to the base.
A beautiful trophy from the early days of an historically significant golf club that has hosted 6 USGA Championships.
