1907 US Amateur Sterling Silver Runner-Up Medal Awarded to Archibald Graham
Carrying a detailed relief of the Great Seal of the United States is the 1907 US Amateur Sterling Silver Runner-Up Medal that was awarded to Archibald Graham. 'The United States Golf Association' and '1907' are found along the perimeter of this simple, yet detailed in design award of highest achievement in the amateur golf community. It bears many of the same elements that the USGA employs until today in its victors medals. The engraving on the back of this medal inside surrounding laurels reads 'Amateur Championship - Runner-Up - Archibald Graham - The Euclid Club - July 13th.'The rising star 20-year old Jerome Travers who competed in his first amateur at 15 hailing from the bright lights of New York, New York defeated Archibald Graham 6 and 5 at Euclid Club. This victory launched Travers' major success, defeating the match play fields of the US Amateur three more times, holding the record of four until Bobby Jones' fifth win decades later in 1930. This 113-year-old medal represents the earliest USGA award The Golf Auction has offered of its kind. 2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
