1904 Baltusrol Golf Club History Book
This book ranks as one of the earliest publications on Baltusrol, issued just 9 years after it founding.
It contains a rare photo of the Club House as it appeared in 1904 as well as most interestingly a map of the original “Old Course” 18 hole layout.
The Old Course would last until 1918. When the club hired Albert W. Tillinghast to bulid a second course he instead proposed building two new courses, consuming the grounds of the existing course upon which to build the now famous Upper and Lower courses at Baltusrol. Those courses have hosted 17 major championships.
The book also contains the club’s constitution, by-laws rules and a list of its 622 members at the time .
States within that the object of the club shall be the playing, cultivation and advancement of the royal and ancient game of Golf.
The next earliest Baltusrol Club yearbook to ever come to auction that we could find was from 1908 thus we believe this is the earliest to ever come to auction.
