1903 Waterbury Golf Assoc. Perpetual Woman's Championship Sterling Silver Trophy
The Waterbury (Connecticut) Golf Association was formed in 1899 and less than 10 years later would evolve into The Country Club of Waterbury. The inscription on the trophy reads “Waterbury Golf Association, Woman’s Championship, presented by Ralph H. Smith, Sept 1903, Won by Frances A Grannis. Her name is also inscribed elsewhere on the trophy as the winner in 1904 and 1905. In 1927 Donald Ross designed a new 18-hole course for the club. This heavy sterling silver trophy has three elegantly curved handles and stands 8.5 inches tall. It weighs an impressive 1,032 grams, giving it a silver value of $675 at $22 per ounce. 8 1/2" tall
