1895 'Golf In America - A Practical Manual' First Edition Book by James P. Lee
Although small in size, and unassuming in presentation, every collector is fully aware of this 1895 first edition collectible, published one year after the USGA was formed. With all 194 pages accounted for, not to mention the 13 pages of period photographs (the first being a picture of The Clubhouse of The St. Andrews Golf Club of Yonkers - 1st Established Course in the US), offered here is considered the first book published in the United States on golf. Instructions for golfers to work their way around some of golf's most historic golf courses such as Shinnecock or Merion (under its' original name Merion Cricket Club) are riddled throughout this book. Courses mentioned include the first 5 clubs that were the founding members of the USGA, followed by other clubs that have either changed or disappeared entirely. A list of definitions and terms are found in the back, holding true to it's 'manual' claim.
