1870's R. Forgan PC Long Nose Club
Robert Forgan became 'By Appointment' club maker to HRH the Prince of Wales in 1863, and used the Prince's plume of three feathers as his mark until 1901. This club is marked with the small lettering "R. Forgan" above the Prince's plume trademark. Forgan's shop in St. Andrews went so far as to have the Prince of Wales plume displayed on their shop, and the Forgan name still remains embedded in the sidewalk where the shop resided. A Robert Forgan & Son hickory long nose with a 'R. Forgan & Son St. Andrews' shaft stamp and Prince of Wales crown head stamp is presented here. This hickory shafted club sports highly legible head and shaft stamp, as evidenced in the photos. Ram's horn sole insert, lead weight, tight grip (likely regrip) and overall it is in fine condition with some wear.
